Along with 8BitDo and Gulikit, NYXI has joined the fray by announcing the NYXI Wizard Wireless Joy-Pad. This is a retro-styled Switch controller that features Hall effect sensors that are drift-free.

Few things can make a gamer rage to Viking levels like a broken controller you paid 70 dollars for just a few months ago. Saying “they don’t make them like they used to” can seem like a lame excuse, but in the case of controllers, it is unquestionably true. The decline in product quality should not be a concern in any way.

Fortunately, stick drift was largely resolved in console controllers years ago. Sega used so-called Hall effect sensors, initially in the Sega Saturn 3D controller and then on the Dreamcast controller, in place of potentiometers (that will probably eventually drift). Hall effect sensors utilize magnets, which makes them not as susceptible to physical wear compared to the last 5 to 6 joy-cons you’ve bought in the past two years.

Hall effect sensors are guaranteed to be more durable and serve you a lot longer than anything else, though nothing lasts forever. It is no surprise that they are used as flight sticks! Additionally, Hall effect sensors have the advantage of having virtually no dead zone, which could be a game-changing factor for certain players.

Back to NYXI now. In addition to using Hall sensors, their most recent controller is designed to resemble one of the best game controllers ever created: the WaveBird Wireless Controller.

Many people adore the WaveBird, and if you are a fan of the WaveBird enough to purchase a comparable controller, you almost certainly play Super Smash Bros a lot. This means you require sticks that are extra durable. Additionally, the Wizard’s two sides can dock, giving your Switch a Gamecube ASCII keyboard controller-like appearance.

This seems to be made for you if you are the type of person who plays Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and continually hulks out. Another feature people are embracing is the apparent ease with which you can change the joystick gates, switching between octagonal and round. This is a great switch controller for every gamer out there.
