Most Exciting Games Released in 2022

Like every year, this year, there have been many exciting video game releases. Generally, 2022 has been an exciting year for games. After a rough few years, this year has been the biggest year of massive games and awesome indie projects since 2019.

Once again, it’s time to look at some of our favorite games from the past year and which are simply the most memorable. Gotham Knights was released at the end of October alongside other popular games such as Bayonetta 3, Mario, and Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. In addition, towards the end of this year, we saw the release of God of War Ragnarök and Pokémon Scarlet.

Even though these are huge and anticipated games, many exciting titles were also released this year. There has never been a better time to try out that hidden gem you’ve kept on the back burner.

In light of this, we’ve compiled a list of our favorites among the many ambitious titles that have come out this year.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves

In light of Naughty Dog’s frequent rereleases, it’s not surprising that its PS4 Uncharted games are bundled with a film adaptation. However, The Legacy of Thieves definitely warrants a look if you missed Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy. The fourth and final game in the Uncharted series examines Nathan Drake’s selfishness rather than portraying him as an unruly man-child.

Legacy of Thieves Collection allows you to leave your mark on the map and leave a lasting legacy. The iconic franchise’s largest blockbuster action set pieces are excellent examples of Naughty Dog’s thrilling, cinematic storytelling.

It is a very exciting game. Experience lost history with Nathan Drake and Chloe Frazer, charismatic yet complex thieves. As the vibrant characters travel the globe, they encounter adventures and lost lore.

Remastered in stunning detail for the PS5 console with improved visuals and frame rates, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection includes critically acclaimed, globe-trotting single-player exploits from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Elden Ring

Of course, we have to mention the widely popular and fantastic Elden Ring on this list. Elden Ring was released at the end of February this year as an action role-playing game. In this game, players control a customizable character on a journey to become the new Elden Lord and fix the titular Elden Ring. A third-person viewpoint is used to present the game’s interactive open world, which players can freely explore. The gameplay includes horseback riding, magic spells, and combat.

Elden Ring is the first game to match the exploration wonder of 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Software’s mysterious, impenetrable, and ultimately rewarding games have become synonymous with what we’ve come to expect from the developer. In spite of the brutality of those games, its open-world trappings reframe much of their brutality, encouraging progress over brute force rather than detracting from their challenges.

It’s not so much about the graphics but rather the story and the fun you have in the game (although there are plenty of attractive graphics to be found). The game allows you to get lost in the corner of the map for a dozen hours before returning to a previous challenge as a completely new character with stronger abilities.

Gotham Knights

Onto another blockbuster on the list; Gotham Knights. The most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet is featured in Gotham Knights, an open-world action RPG. If you choose to play alone or with another hero, you’ll be able to patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs and catch criminal activity wherever it occurs. Developed by Warner Bros games, you just know this game is one of the most exciting of the year.

There is no Batman anymore. Instead, Gotham City has been swept by a new criminal underworld, with a brand-new set of protectors.

Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin are now on the case to protect Gotham, bring discipline to the police, and scare away criminals. In Gotham Knights, they defeat notorious villains in epic battles while solving mysteries from the city’s darkest days.

Enjoy third-person stealth and combat in Gotham City with Gotham Knights. Become a Gotham hero by sneaking through areas, destroying enemies, and fighting to protect the city.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen

Since its release in 2014, Destiny has faced a lot of challenges, including a global pandemic and its sale to PlayStation. It’s almost a miracle that Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is the best game in the series eight years on. Destiny is back with a new campaign, a new location, new weapons, and new powers.

In Destiny 2, new weapons and destinations are added, and it’s super exciting. This corrupt and splendorous wonderland plays host to a delicate balance of power in Savathûn’s Throne World. Her palace and swamp hide everything she hides.

The game includes new features, a whole makeover, and the option to customize weaponry by combining mods, shaders, and stats. Experience powerful melee combos, projectile attacks, and a deployable energy shield with the new Glaive weapon type.

God of War Ragnarök

Created by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Entertainment, God of War Ragnarök is an action-adventure game. There are nine installments in the series, and this is the ninth chronologically, and it is the sequel to 2018’s God of War. Taking place in ancient Scandinavia, the game features Kratos and his teenage son Atreus, both loosely based on Norse mythology.

It is widely considered one of the most exciting games of the year and perhaps even one of the most exciting games of all time.

Following the final revelations of 2018’s God of War, Kratos’ story picks up a few years later. Atreus lives under the threat of apocalyptic Ragnarok, and its events circle around him like one of Odin’s ravens. In the intervening years, Atreus has grown stronger, learned about his Giant name “Loki”, and tried to convince his father to trust him during Fimbulwinter – a time of unrest preceding Ragnarok. In this scene, Kratos proudly watches Atreus proves that he’s no longer a child, as he recalls the hunting scene in God of War 2018.

A range of side quests accompanies the game’s epic, exciting, and bombastic storyline. There are themes of prophecy, sacrifice, and whether blood runs thicker than the ink that draws them at the heart of this story. This game is brilliantly crafted as a final chapter in Kratos’ Norse saga.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

At the beginning of 2022, Pokémon Legends: Arceus revolutionized Pokémon games, and now the mainline series is going open-world as well. The story of Arceus takes place in ancient times when the sight of giant smiling dragons in the wild was still something very unusual. In contrast, Scarlet and Violet return to a modern-day Pokescape.

You’ll be able to invite friends along for the ride as you try to become the best Pokémon trainer in the land.

In this new adventure, you’ll meet two different professors, based on the version and story of the game you choose to play. Dying Light 2: Stay Human

In Dying Light 2, you play as Aiden Caldwell, an infected survivor attempting to uncover his past and find his sister in a decaying, ruthless environment. This is 20 years after the first game. In Aiden’s search, he finds The City (the last human settlement), where the player decides whether to focus on his own objectives or help the remaining survivors rebuild their settlement.

There is a strong emphasis on choice and consequence in Dying Light 2, with your choices impacting the surrounding environment and the story. The game blends parkour elements from Mirror’s Edge with zombie-style games, as well as day-and-night variations. As a result, Dying Light 2 stresses stealth, parkour, and tweaked equipment to traverse the environment (such as gliders, pulleys, and swinging hooks).
